Description: View of the Pamlico River, Castle Island, and Washington, North Carolina, described further by Reed as follows: "View Down the Pamlico River.--To the left is the town; in the centre is Castle Island; on the right, in the distance, is Rodman's Point. The 'Cotton Battery' was just around the point of land in the right foreground. The Union gunboats lay in the channel to the left of Castle Island."
