Pictured here is Christ Episcopal Church on Pollock Street before it burned in 1871. The view shows the front and left side of the building as well as the steeple. In front shows what seems to be a Civil War era soldier stands with his rifle in front of the fence. A street lamp is also pictured.
The image was made by John D. Heywood, whose "Photograph Rooms" were located on Craven Street between 1867 and 1869.
