Pictured in the photograph is the original law office of William Gaston before it was moved and reconstructed in 1949. The photo shows the house caving in the middle, but still looks as it did when it was first constructed.

The office originally stood in the rear yard of the Coor-Gaston House in the 400 block of Craven Street, but was moved to the 300 block of Craven in 1949. It moved again in 2016 to the campus of the New Bern Historical Society at 511 Broad Street.
