There is a letter to John G. Dunn, Jr. of the Good Shepherd Hospital from D.L. Stallings from the Craven County Board of Commissioners stating that the Good Shepherd Hospital has not been in use due to the growth of the Craven County Hospital. He states that the building can still be of some use, but the Good Shepherd Hospital can no longer function at full capacity.
