Description

Otway Burns was a commander of the war schooner Snap Dragon during the War of 1812, as well as a merchant, politician, and patriot. Born in Swansboro, he worked with recruits from New Bern and sailed as far north as Portland, Maine, during the war. This book was compiled by an author with both a familial connection and a strong interest in local history.
