Description
Twenty-shilling Treasury note issued by North Carolina with narrow borders on all four sides. Printed inscription: “North-Carolina./ [ XX s.] Twenty Shillings./ This NOTE shall entitle the Bearer hereof,/ to Twenty SHILLINGS Proclamation Money, to/ be paid out of the Public Treasury, with lawful/ Interest, from the Date, to the 12th of December/ 1759; and shall be current, and a Tender in all/ Payments, according to Act of Assembly, passed/ May 4th, 1758. Issued this [illegible] Day of June 1758./ [ 1 £ ]/ /8 John Sharkey and T Baker Pub. Trea. (Inked-in information underlined.) Illegible serial number in upper right corner. Ink inscriptions on the reverse: “Mr Miller/ to N A,” “from W’m Falher (?) to V,” “Robbinson to m J,” Jno Stevans to JS,” and “Wm Jones.” Bill folded in half in both directions.
