14 September 1852--Owen O'Neale, an orphan aged 17 years, bound to Alfred P. Willis as a farmer.

18 December 1852--Alexander Newton, a free boy of color aged 17 years on 16th July 1852, bound to Jacob Gooding as a bricklayer and mason. Bond was signed by Jacob Gooding and Israel Disosway.

n.d. [filed in 1853 folder, see 12 December 1853]--"To the cort of Please and quarter sessions. Greeting. This is to certify that we Kelsor Braddock and Sarah his wife wishes to have the following named children bound out to Mr. William Temple. 1. Isaac Carter [interlined Corlee] of the 13 year of his age. 2. Nancy 10 years of age. 3. Annaias Carter of the age of 8 years. 4. Zachariah Carter of the age of 5 years. This last named one has fits and is But a perish [i.e. Parish] charge. We the above named Kelsor Braddock and his wife Sarah do certify that we are the Grand Father and Grand Mother of the above named Children and we should have come to court but for myself Kelsor am sick and has been for Twelve months so that neither of us can come to court. The Father & Mother of these children have both Deceased and the children is in a situation to suffer. Kelsor x Braddock, Sarah x Braddock. Attest: D.V. Dickinson." Nancy Carter the daughter of apairance was born Sept. the 29 [could be 27]. 1843. Ananiars Carter the son of saide pairance was born April 12th 184[blot, could be 5]. 14 June 1853--Christopher Bryan Wayne, an orphan aged 10 years, bound to William J. Civils as a cooper.September 1853--"Ordered that the Sheriff have before this Court at the next term, Isaac Carter, Nancy Carter, Ananias Carter, and Zach Carter free persons of colour, and grandchildren of Kelso Braddock and Sarah Braddock who live one mile from William Temple on Clubfoot Creek. Attest, J.G. Stanly." [Endorsed on the back "Justices vs. Orphans to December term 1853"]
December Term 1853 [see 17 December 1853]--"On Motion It is Ordered by the Court that a Notice issue to Charlotte Dove a free woman of colour to appear before this Court on Friday morning at 11 O'Clock to shew cause if any she has why her daughter Fanny A. Dove should not be bound as an apprentice."
5 December 1853 [see 12 December 1853]--"This may certify to the worshipful Court of Craven County that I Elizabeth Lester are willing that my son William Lester should be bound to Alfred H. Casey until he comes to the age of 21 years. Elizabeth x Lester. Clubfoots Creek, December 5, 1853. Attest: Elijah Taylor." [Note indicates: "Bound to A.H. Casey cooper age 7"]

11 March 1854--"This is to certefy that I Cumfort Jones of [Craven] County have a Son named David Jones that have been destitut for a [?] home and without protection abought elevn years of age and according to my choice I wish him and do by this concent that he be bound...to William Holton who I believe is fit and calculated to rais him and give him one or more trades... Cumfort + Jones. Attest: Noah C. Miller."

13 June 1854--George Dennis, an orphan aged 16 the 8th of December 1853, bound to Julius A. Phillips as a "sadler". The indenture is marked "Indentures rescinded Sepr. Term 1854."
14 June 1854--Solomon M. Howland, an orphan aged 14 years in August 1854, bound to George Bishop as a cabinet maker.
11 September 1854 [filed in the 1850 folder]--Haywood Riggs, an orphan aged 18 years, bound to John T. Ball as a carriage maker. [See also indenture dated 10 December 1850.] A second indenture of the same date is filed in the 1854 folder and is marked "surrendered Sept. 1855" and "Rescinded by consent of master & court."
