Engraved one-shilling note issued in North Carolina. Printed from engraved copper plate. Border on left edge is missing; swan in circle on lower left corner. Printed inscription: “North Carolina/ i s. One Shilling./ Proclamation Money according to Act of / Assembly pass’d ye 9th of Mach 1754.” Partial ink serial number in upper right corner: “86[missing].” Faint ink signatures: “Lewis De Rosset”/ “Sam Swann”
Bill is reinforced by part of a page from a printed text of revisions to laws. Printed text: “and/ Repealed,/ Ch. 6, 1684.” And “Levies./ Repealed,/ and re-enac-/ ted, Chap. 7/ 1705.”
The bill was issued in a series of 10,000.
