Engraved fifteen-shilling note issued by North Carolina. Printed from engraved copper plate with scroll border on left edge and armor helmet in a circle on lower left corner. Printed inscription: “North Carolina./ vxs. Fifteen Shillings/ Proclamation Money according to Act of / Assembly pass’d ye 9th of March 1754.” Bill is numbered in ink in upper right corner: “4145.” Signed in ink on obverse: “Sam Swann,” “Jno Swann/” “Lewis De Rosset” and “John Starkey” (very faint). In ink on reverse: “from Jno Eason to D S”/ “from John Rose to [illegible] Chedwick”/ “Walton Harris.” Bill folded in half.
